How Electrolux dishwasher alarms work
- Electrolux dishwasher alarms use the form iXY: i for alarm, X for the family, Y for the specific fault. Older production showed only the family code (for example i20); newer production shows the complete code.
- A letter B in a code may appear as H on a seven-segment display (iB0 shown as iH0).
- The dishwasher stores the three most recent alarms, readable in service mode.

Common problems
- Electrolux dishwasher not drainingWater left in the tub, or i20 on the display.→
- Electrolux dishwasher leaking or showing i30Water on the floor, or i30 with the drain pump running continuously.→
- Electrolux dishwasher not cleaning or not dryingDishes stay dirty or wet, or cycles run very long.→
i30 — why the pump keeps running
i30 means water reached the leak-protection tray under the tub. The dishwasher stops filling and runs its drain pump to protect your floor and cabinets. Electrolux's own documentation is explicit that the water in the tray is the symptom, not the cause: the leak can come from the door gasket, a drain backflow, an interior lamp or any part that borders the wash zone. A correct repair finds that source — simply drying the tray brings the code back.
Heating alarms that aren't a bad heater
Electrolux's alarm manual warns that a heating alarm is not always a failed heating element. Some heating codes are triggered by scale on the heater and call for descaling, not replacement — relevant in Las Vegas, where the water is very hard. We follow the manufacturer's sequence: connectors and wiring, heater resistance, leakage, relays — then decide.
What a technician checks
- Reads the three stored alarms in service mode.
- Runs the actuator test: drain pump, inlet valve, heater, wash pump, dispenser.
- Checks Electrolux tech tips that apply to your model (for example DWTT2418 for i20 on EDSH4944, DWTT241C for a unit flashing 12 times).
- Confirms the installation: drain loop height, disposer knockout, supply valve.
Typical Electrolux dishwasher repair cost
| Repair | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Drain pump or sump/filter cleaningMany i20 calls are a blocked filter, sump or drain hose. | $180–$330 |
| Water inlet valve | $180–$310 |
| Door latch or door switch | $180–$310 |
| Leak sensor (Aqua Control) service and leak repairThe tray switch is the messenger; the leak source is what gets repaired. | $180–$400 |
| Heating element or heater relay diagnosisSome heating alarms call for descaling, not a new heater. | $180–$400 |
| Wash (circulation) pump | $280–$620 |
| Control or user interface board | $240–$680 |
Estimated repair ranges represent typical repairs under normal service conditions. Your final cost depends on the exact model, the parts required, supplier pricing and availability, what diagnosis finds, and the labor involved. Additional labor may be needed when the appliance has to be pulled out, uninstalled and reinstalled, or when cabinetry, trim, panels or other components must be removed to reach the failed part. Parts prices change with supplier availability, market conditions, shipping and import costs. You receive the final repair price for approval after diagnosis and before any repair work begins. The $75 service call is applied toward an approved repair. Labor is covered by our 90-day labor warranty, and qualifying parts carry the applicable 1-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions
There is water in the bottom of my dishwasher. Is that normal?
A small amount in the sump under the filter is normal. Standing water above the filter is not. On EDSH4944 models also check how you cancel: press Cancel and close the door within about two seconds, or the dishwasher goes to standby without draining.
How often should I clean the filters?
Check them every few weeks and whenever you see food particles left on dishes. A clogged filter causes poor cleaning and slow draining.
My dishwasher trips the breaker. What should I do?
Leave it off and call us. Electrolux has documented a ground-fault breaker issue with a specific breaker brand on some models, but a tripping breaker can also mean a leak reaching electrical parts. Don't keep resetting it.
